Triathalon Mania

So I have to share the good news, guess who won her age division at the Provo Triathlon last week (which is no surprise to me)...? My amazing 8 week post-partum sister Leslie!! Can you believe that? I'm so proud of her, I wish I could have been there to see her race. She trains hard for these and ran in one just a few weeks before she delivered! She is trying to work up to an ironman so she can get to Hawaii :)

The other great news is that my niece Mckayla was able to complete with her momma! Yup, she was in her first triathlon since the Provo Tri had a kids division. This girl was born to compete (literally). My sister ran and competed when she was pregnant and Mckayla and Talmage were always in her bike trailer with every bike ride accross the valley (15 miles+). Check out these awesome pictures. I love you girls!

I absolutely love this last picture! She is my Champion!

30 More Days!

Oh I am so excited! My parents and little brother Tyler are coming to visit us next month!! I love the experience of moving away but do get homesick sometimes and this is just what I need.

Per Tyler's request, we are going to see Wicked while they are here (it's only his 3rd time!). I hear it's good, it better be for the pricetag!
Anyway, kind a pointless post, I'm just so excited to see them and show them our new home. Stay tuned for plenty of pictures!

A Visit from Vanessa

We were lucky enough to have Ryan's little sister Vanessa who is 15 come spend a few weeks with us. She is such a good sport and up for anything. We have been looking forward to her visit (she's our first visitor since we left Utah) and planned a few fun things.
Last week we spent 2 days at Cedar Point which is an amusement park in Ohio. It's really cool, it's on a peninsula of Lake Huron so you are basically looking right at the water when you're on the rides. They had some insane roller coasters! Our favorite one, the Dragster went 120mph and 420 feet up then 420 feet straight down! I was so freaking out when they strapped us in but once I opened my eyes to enjoy the ride, I loved it.

We stayed the night at a hotel then the next day we caught a few rides until we got rained out. And when it rains in the Midwest, it POURS! We were stuck in a gift store for about an hour (hence the crazy hat pics below) then we spent a few hours at the mall to let it pass and were able to come back and go to the water park. It was awesome! Overcast, but still warm enough to enjoy it. My favorite ride there was Eerie Falls.

I had to work a few nights each week so Vanessa and Ryan did a few things but yesterday I introduced her to the fine luxury of pedicures. She was really quiet and I was worried it freaked her out but she tells me she loved it. Then we did a little shopping, is that not a killer combination?
And what would a trip to Michigan be without a visit to the dog beach at Lake Michigan. We did that today and had perfect weather and so much fun! Vanessa and Ryan braved the cold and actually swam while I waded with the dogs. We took a nice walk then buried Ryan in the sand.
We have to take her back the airport tomorrow and we are sad to see her go but we sure had a great time and hope she did too! Love you Ness!

We Love Dad's!

Well it's our first father's day away from home. Moving away is an awesome experience but the "first holidays" are always kind of tough. We sure are lucky to have been blessed to have the dads that we do. Thank you for always supporting us and helping us through our good and bad times!

I love my father-in-law Robert but I'm got to give a little shout out to my own dad. I sure love you Dad! I know you have been through some rough years lately but no matter what, your 2 biggest fans (as far as I'm concerned) are only a phone call away. I wish we were closer and I wish I could give you a father's day hug but please know how much I love you and miss you and am forever grateful for your example and friendship!

Aww, High School...

Thanks for the tag Nicole! This is one tag I certainly don't mind doing cuz I had just a fun time in high school and love to remember it! Sad, I think most of my pictures are still in Utah but I found a few pre-digital ones and I think you will enjoy seeing everyone again :) Here goes...

1. Did you date someone from your school? My first boyfriend was Adam Sudweeks and we dated for 6 months my sophomore year till I broke up with him in my driveway the night of prom (mean huh?!). After that I had a blast and dated different guys (not at the same time) till I met the ex... Silly girls, we don't need boyfriends to be happy and "cool"!!

2. Did you win anything in Senior's Who's Who? Nope but got a few of my quotes in the yearbook

3. What kind of car did you drive? First car was an old plymouth sundance that my dad spray painted the bumper to match the rest of the car. Then a red Mazda MX6 with sunroof, spoiler, and all till I crashed it into a firetruck. Last of all was my beloved green Isuzu Rodeo that I should have never parted with!

4. It's Friday night...where are you? Easy, if I wasn't dancing at a game or competition I was probably driving around with the girls causing trouble or flirting with boys. Oh and remember those trolley square dances? We pretty much kept them in business :)

5. Were you a party animal? Some of my best memories involve parties at Nicole's. She had the BEST parties!! I wish they had never ended.

6. Were you considered a flirt? Yup and I had a great time doing it!

7. Were you in band, orchestra, or choir? Orchestra my sophomore year. I played the violin for 8 years but then got creeped out by the teacher Mr Findlay.

8. Were you a nerd? I hope not but to some people maybe. I was probably the nerdiest when I was trying not to be :)

9. Did you get suspended/expelled? No no but I probably should have for "sluffing."

10. Can you sing the fight song? Not a word.

11. Who were your favorite teachers? I am totally blanking on this one but as much torture as we gave my drill team coach Melinda I loved her. Plus I can't remember the football coach's name but he was cool and let me be a TA for him and do nothing but hang out with boys in the weight room :)

12. Where did you sit during lunch? No where special but I was a nerd and tried to sit by the "cool kids"

13.What was your school's full name? Copper Hills High School.

14. School mascot? Grizzlies.

15. Did you go to Homecoming and who with? Didn't go my sophomore year, not sure why, guess I didn't get asked. Junior year was my highlight and that was with my biggest crush ever, Scott Kemp. I was SO flattered that he would ask me and wanted to kiss him on my doorstep but I didn't get the chance cuz he was too good.

16. If you could go back and do it again, would you? Absolutely and I wouldn't waste my time having boyfriends this time and just have fun dating different people.

17.What do you remember most about graduation? That I was too cool for it and didn't get any pictures with friends. And that my sister didn't go to mine and I didn't go to hers. They were the same day but we were fighting or something. And yes, we really were as mean as we look. Pretty much gang material.

18. Where did you go senior skip day? You mean there was only one?

19 Were you in any clubs? Drill team all 3 years was number one. That kept me so dang busy and was so hard but so rewarding at the same time. I also did PLT my senior year so I could get off campus :)

20. Have you gained some weight since then? Probably a couple pounds but I don't remember what the scale said back then. I only wish I still worked out 3 hours a day every day cuz I'm still in good shape but I don't think I'll ever be in that good of shape again.

21. Who was your prom date? Sophomore was Adam Sudweeks, Junior was Tyler Homer (what's he up to now I wonder?), Senior- I think I was too cool for school and didn't go. Remember how I said I liked tall guys?!

22. Are you planning on going to your 10 year reunion? I would love to and I would have loved to go to my 5th but either it wasn't planned or no one filled me in...

One of my favorite memories is decorating to ask someone to a dance and being asked!

I had to throw in some extra pictures for old time sake. Oh to be young again!

Excuse me Mr Ryan Khoury but what exactly are you looking at? :)
The infamous date with Dustin Darger the polygamist. He actually was a very cool guy.

I love hearing updates on friends from school or finding their blogs, how we have changed! I tag Jenn, Brayci, and Leslie

Not Again!

Ryan's little sister Vanessa arrived yesterday to spend a few weeks with us and after our long drive back from Detroit we just bummed around and watched movies. So it's like 11pm and we saw this crazy lightning storm all night. The lightning was flashing nonstop but it wasn't really raining or thundering much.
Anyway, a little while later someone pounds on our door. I am thinking to myself (actual word choice- sorry), "who the hell is pounding on my door at midnight?" So I wrangled the dogs away from the door as someone is still madly knocking and finally get there to open it. It's our old grouchy neighbor, the same one who came running down the street this past winter to educate Ryan on how to properly scrape a car off after a snowstorm. (side note- thanks sir, we moved from Utah, not Florida). So once I saw him I'm thinking, what could we have done wrong now. But he was checking on us to make sure we were okay. I thought he was crazy until I looked outside and saw all the tree limbs on the ground. It looked like a tornado had come through! I included some pictures from the houses on our street.

There is actually a house under that pine tree!

Oh and to explain the post title, 2 years ago when we were living in Milcreek we had a storm just like this but worse, seemed like a hurricaine and it did some major damage. The pictures below are of that storm. Huh, I didn't think about it till today but last week our insurance company sent us an update about our homeowners insurance now including tree damage and removal, that was convinient timing!

So I thought I could dance...

Yes, it's that lovely time of year again which many of us have been waiting for...So You Think You Can Dance has returned!! I love that show. I know it's totally reliving my high school/drill team days but I don't care. It does however remind me of a few things. 1- I was not nearly as good a dancer as I had fun thinking I was, 2- I would be horrible on the show cuz I hated Modern and kind of still do, and 3- I miss dancing like CRAZY!! It was cool to see them audition in Utah, I was hoping to see someone I knew but I didn't. Where were you Nicole, Natalie, & Mel?!

So in lew of my favorite show being back on I had to share a few pictures that bring back dancing memories. I couldn't find my high school pictures but here are a few from the alumni performance I was invited to in 2006 and my sophmore drill team all together. That was my favorite year by far, especially cuz I had my very best friend and idol Jenn Dalton!!
