Happy Easter!

Just wanted to wish everyone a Happy Easter! Oh and don't worry, I know how awkward Ryan looks in that picture, at 6'6" it's his attempt to fit in the picture with me :) Aside from the squatting and missing Norris (who was too busy sleeping to make an appearance) I think its a pretty cute picture.

Holiday's have been different here because we're alone. It's been different to not attend family parties that I've attended the last 24 years and my heart is aching a little to be with my family and grandparents in Springville but we are here for a reason and our family will benefit greatly from our few years of sacrifice.

Speaking of sacrifice, I'm so very grateful for our Savior and his sacrifice so we can return to him someday not alone, but as a family. Have a wonderful Easter!

Dog vs Wild

I caught these cute pictures the other day. This picture is of Norris keeping watch of our backyard. He and Baby always stare out the windows then will fly down the stairs to the door when they see something.

This time he was fretting over the squirrel invasion in our backyard. I think they stalk the dogs just to drive them crazy. That little tiny branch the squirrel is on is only about 50 feet off the ground! It's right next to our window and poor Norris goes crazy in his attempt to catch them. Someday buddy...

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

So as I've said before, I'm big into holidays and since we have been fortunate enough to have our own home now we have been trying to get friends together to celebrate. We had a St. Patrick's Day party tonight and had so much fun! We have made such good friends out here and you become so much closer living away from Utah and the church that these people have become our family! It may have been the only dry St. Patty's Day party in Michigan but we sure had fun! Here's a few pics...

Sloan Hater

So Ryan filled me in on his latest game. The Deseret News obviously posts all their articles online and you can make comments on the article kind of like a blog. Well he follows the Jazz articles and needless to say, while he is a huge Jazz fan, he is not a Jerry Sloan fan. Anyway, he has been posting these comments after every article with the screen name "Sloan Hater." He posts smart but hillarious commentary about the Jazz and Sloan and ends every post with "Fire Sloan." It makes the other people who post SO mad! They get so fired up about the notorious Sloan Hater and Ryan loves it. Anyway, probably not as funny to you as it is me to follow his famous blog but if you are ever bored, check it out.

Look at these cuties!

My nephew Talmage and niece Mckayla
Ryan's niece Gracie and nephew Aidan
I'm so glad it's the weekend! I just finished my 5 nights in a row and am ready for a break and time to catch up around the house. Something to know about me is if I'm not working or sleeping, I'm shopping and thats precisely what I did today (that's also the reason for working so much- keeps me from shopping). Another thing I love is holidays. I love to decorate and since we've been in Michigan we've put little holiday packages together for the kids. We finished up the St. Patricks Day suprises today and it reminded me what cute nieces and nephews we have. These are a couple cute pics from Christmas. They are growing up so fast, especially since we only see them a few times a year now. We sure love em though!

Please Drive Safe

I spend 4-5 nights a week at the hospital so naturally I come home with a lot of stories. This one just affected me a little stronger so I thought I would share. Just before my shift ended at 6:30am we got a call that a 16 year old traumatic full arrest (not breathing/no pulse) was coming in and had about 5 minutes to prepare. Turned out to be a car accident and we were getting the unrestrained passenger who's car ran a red light and was hit by another car. She was Asian so looked 16 but was actually about 30. Anyway, we worked on her for awhile but she was probably gone before she got to us. A few minutes after she came in her husband and parents were also brought in. They were okay but the doctor and nurse had to approach the husband to inform him of his wife's death. You can bet that when I crawled in bed that morning I gave Ryan an extra big hug and kiss.

I guess it just hit me that while we will never know, her young life may not have ended so soon if she had a seatbelt on. Just makes me want to be drive a little slower, be a more patient and kind driver, and definitely wear my seatbelt...everywhere! Hopefully if you're not already doing these things this sad story might give you a little kick in the butt like it did me! Be safe!

A Warm Fuzzy...

We were at church today and the little boy from the family in front of us walked back to me and held his arms up so I picked him up. It was so dang cute cuz he just wanted to sit with us and Ryan drew some animals that he laughed at. He sat content with us half the meeting then got down, turned around and put his arms up to Ryan! So he and Ryan drew on the palm pilot for awhile.
Anyway, just one of those cute moments that makes you smile. That certainly made me think how fun it would be if he was our son but its gonna take a few more of those warm fuzzies to get me on the baby train :)
