Looking for Suggestions

All right ladies. I love looking at your blogs and am jealous of your beautiful faces and hair! I've always been pretty laid back about my hair and makeup but am kind of tired of people asking me "are you tired?" all the time. I'm thinking that means I need some help to look a bit more alive :)
So I'm looking for some suggestions on your favorite makeup brands/products, specifically a foundation that doesn't disappear after an hour and eyeshadow colors plus eyeliner for dummies seeing that I CANNOT seem to get the look right.
As for my hair, it's going to take a LOT of convincing on my part to cut it so that can wait for now.
Thanks for your help!!

MINERAL MAKEUP IS THE BEST!!!!!!

I'm no pro, but I do know that the lotion you use on your face makes a HUGE difference in how long your foundation stays on. I have always had dry skin so I always used lotion for that type, but lately that has changes and my skin is now more oily. My foundation was always "greasing" off my face as I liked to call it. I switched face lotions, and now it stays on MUCH longer! Maybe go to the mall and have someone there try different looks on you, and see what you like the best! Good luck, and keep us updated!

ok steph, I don't share my secrets with many so start taking notes : )

for foundation, marykay makes a wonderful one called "wet-to-dry" foundation, you put it on with a sponge, but it dries like a powder. don't forget your eyelids and lips (seriously, everything stays on longer that way). they have an amazing moisturizer too that's for sensitive skin so you're not all greased up and breaking out. next, either mac or trucco have powder eye liners (I know it's expensive, but I bought mine 2 years ago and it's barely halfway gone) that are great to put on first. note that you don't need eyeliner on the top and bottom lashes. I think it's very simple but a great look to do the top only, along with mascara. remember to high light under your brow bone with shimmer or a lighter shade and choose the color of your choice for the rest. follow up with some bronzer on the cheeks (not a ton) and some victoria secret lip gloss and you're set for the day. if you want some night time looks, let me know and I'll send you more via email : ) happy makeup-ing

What?!? Are you saying you don't like my hair? ;-)

Sorry, you know I can't help in the make up department. I think you've always looked great anyway though.

Personally, with this Michigan humidity I have to stick with the liquid aftershave as opposed to the lotion aftershave. Other than that, I have no advice for you. My wife, on the other hand, uses Bare Minerals. Come and see our baby any time and she'll show you the baby and the make-up.

I think i'm partial to Victoria's Secret because I worked there for so long, but I really DO love their makeup. My favorite is their eyeliner. It's so soft, and I am constantly getting comments about it because it goes on so smooth practically looking like liquid liner, but it's not, it's a pencil (I can't do liquid liner...my hand isn't that steady). I love their mascara, bronzer, and all lip products as well. They are a little expensive, but not at all bad compared to the makeup at department stores. Also, try MAC as well. They have incredible colors for eyeshadow. Good luck, and I am sure no matter what you do, you will look beautiful:)

Well... not sure that I have many secrets. I really have like the neutragena skin clearing foundation. I do use a gel bronzer and then a little blush just on the apples of my cheeks. Maybe one thing that I do that people have seemed to like is I use regular mascara and then put a thin layer of water proof over the top of it. It makes my mascara stick in place and it doesn't come off in the water. Anyway, I have never used expensive makeup. Oh and don't cut your hair I like it long. Chelsey is always good at color though. So when you come in town you could visit her again

By the way. I showed Chas pictures of your sister from her triathlon on your blog. He says she passed him on the run. That's awesome!

Well, I think you look great, but if you want some good advice I would say go to Macy's and ask the ladies there to help find the right colors. My sweet sister took me for my wedding and I finally found the colors I liked and that looked good on me. You have to buy something from them if you want them to do your makeup for you but it was worth it for me. I went to Clinique, but just because that is my sister's favorite stuff.

ps... if you want quick cute hair ideas, I LOVE velcro rollers or hot rollers. they are so quick. you load your hair up, put on your makeup, eat some breakfast (or whatever meal since you work at a hospital with crazy hours) and take the rollers out after a little hairspray. with your hair so long, it'll turn out beautiful!! one other thing, on my blog, I have a link for E.L.F. makeeup. it's really inexpensive and awesome. loves to you!

I am sorry for butting into this discussion, but Steph, you just need to look in the mirror. What you will see is a very beautiful woman not needing any makeup! However girls... if you would like to send suggestions for Stephs father, he would welcome any help.
