So we were lucky enough to attend the University of Utah vs University of Michigan game today at The Big House in Ann Arbor. It is quite the arena, the attendance today was 108,412! It's not very often that a Utah team travels to Michigan to play- in fact the last meeting of these teams was in 2002 so we were glad to be here when they came again. It was an awesome game and a great victory for the U. Go Utes! We'll be counting the days until the U comes back to Notre Dame in 2 years.
So happy to be showing Utah spirit! (Bows courtesy of Ryan)

This one's for you Nancy
Well by big sweet husband officially started his 2nd year of Law School today! I know that first year wasn't fun but I appreciate his hard work and willingness to further his education for our family. Love you Ry!
First day of Law School, August 2007
First day of his second year
I had to throw both pictures up to point out the differences. He attributes the scruffy face and backwards hat to his "increasing liberallness." Sorry Robert and Nancy, he can't be helped now :(

Road Trip!
So we got back from a fun last minute getaway a few days ago and am excited to post a few details and a LOT of pictures :)We rented a car for the trip because 1, we don't trust our cars enough and 2, it was fun to have something new :)
We decided to visit Ryan's aunt, uncle, and cousins in Virginia before school started so we took off from Lansing and crossed into then and stopped in Pittsburgh for the night. We ran into this pretty fog the next morning. We drove the next 5 hours where we crossed briefly into (Maryland) and West Virginia then finally into What a beautiful drive! Especially Pennsylvania-Virginia.
We spent the next 2 days near Charlottesville at their family farm which only rekindled the fire on my longstanding desire to have a farm (by farm I mean zoo) someday. They were very gracious to let us stay in their guesthouse which is the most picturesque little cottage you've ever seen! Their home is straight out of a pottery barn catalogue and the property is beautiful! We spent time catching up with family, took a midnight swim, roasted marshmallows, explored downtown Charlottesville, and toured Montpelier which is James Madison's sprawling estate
.
Then we headed to Richmond with Ryan's cousin Joseph and his wife Bianca. They were so nice to let us stay with them, especially since they just got back from 5 weeks in Columbia a few days before. We went to church with them in their branch (gotta love the choice of Sunday socks), watched the Olympics, were spoiled by Bianca's cooking, and visited the coolest park where they rescue injured livestock/wildlife. That same rescue backs up to a beautiful property with an unbelievable Japanese garden and mansion that we had fun exploring. It would have been a killer place to take bridal pictures :)
Looks like Baby may have a future in the Sulky business...
Just scoping out some future real estate options :)
It sure was a fun trip and we were sad to leave but had to come home a day early because Ryan had an abscessed tooth (which explains his chipmunk look in some pictures). As much as I love to fly, it was definitely worth the drive!

Looking for Suggestions
All right ladies. I love looking at your blogs and am jealous of your beautiful faces and hair! I've always been pretty laid back about my hair and makeup but am kind of tired of people asking me "are you tired?" all the time. I'm thinking that means I need some help to look a bit more alive :)
So I'm looking for some suggestions on your favorite makeup brands/products, specifically a foundation that doesn't disappear after an hour and eyeshadow colors plus eyeliner for dummies seeing that I CANNOT seem to get the look right.
As for my hair, it's going to take a LOT of convincing on my part to cut it so that can wait for now.
Thanks for your help!!

Just try not to cry...
Wow! I'm sure you have all seen this video but I came across it again and just had to share. Definitely the best earthly father/son team I know of :) I am grateful for stories of inspiration like this that help bring me back down and appreciate my Heavanly Father. This reminds me that instead of doing things FOR me, he does them WITH me to make me stronger.
P.S. Be sure to mute my blog music first so you can hear the video

Allan Visit
So Yeah! Our internet is finally working again so I can catch up on blogging! The big news is that my mom, dad, and brother Tyler spent last weekend with us and we had a fabulous time! The last few weeks have seemed particularly rainy but we were lucky to have all nice sunny, warm (not Utah scorching) days. It was great to have them for a visit and we sure had a fun time. Here are a few pictures...
We toured the Michigan state Capital
Norris spending time with Grandma
A trip to the coolest pet store ever (my dad LOVED it!)(little known fact: my dad owned a pet store when my sister and I were born)
My parents love thrift stores, this was Ryan's sweet find
Had to visit Steak n Shake!
What is a trip to Michigan without visiting the Lake?!
Anybody know how to photoshop out the one-way sign :)
We also saw Wicked; unfortunately we were late and didn't have the chance to get a picture or you know I would have. Besides the beach, I actually was really looking forward to dressing up to get a Wicked picture but oh well. Anyway, we had a wonderful time and we were sad to see them go but we can't wait till they come back again (or anyone else that would like to visit)!
